When a Fuller Picture Would Change How You're Treating
Neuropsychological Evaluations for Psychiatrists & Therapists in New York City
You know your client well. You've been working with them for months — maybe years. But something isn't adding up. The treatment isn't landing the way it should. The diagnosis feels incomplete. There are cognitive factors at play that a clinical interview alone can't fully illuminate.
A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation can change that.
Dr. KC Bugg & Associates works with psychiatrists and therapists throughout New York City to provide the neuropsychological clarity that makes treatment more precise, more targeted, and more effective.

Collaboration
How We Work With Treating Clinicians
We approach referrals from psychiatrists and therapists as clinical collaborations. With the client's written authorization, we are happy to communicate directly with you before the evaluation begins — to understand your clinical questions, the history you've gathered, and what you're hoping the evaluation will clarify.
After the evaluation, we are equally happy to discuss our findings with you directly — particularly when our findings have implications for your clinical approach, your diagnostic formulation, or your medication management decisions. We write reports with treating clinicians in mind, and we structure our recommendations to be directly actionable in a treatment context.
If you have specific clinical questions you'd like the evaluation to address, tell us upfront. We will design the evaluation battery with those questions in mind.

What We Bring To Your Work
What We Offer Psychiatrists & Therapists
Diagnostic Clarification for Complex Presentations When a client's presentation doesn't fit neatly into a single diagnosis — or when multiple diagnoses are possible and the distinction matters for treatment — a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation provides an independent, objective assessment that goes deeper than clinical observation alone. We identify what's driving what, and document it in a way that informs your clinical decision-making directly.
Cognitive Profiling That Informs Treatment Understanding how a client processes information, manages attention, regulates emotion, and executes plans isn't just academically interesting — it changes what you do in the room with them. Our evaluations provide a detailed map of cognitive strengths and difficulties that can meaningfully shape therapeutic approach, pacing, and goals.
Untangling Overlapping Presentations ADHD and anxiety Autism and depression. Trauma and executive dysfunction. These presentations overlap in ways that are genuinely difficult to distinguish in a clinical interview, and the distinction matters enormously for treatment. A neuropsychological evaluation that examines cognitive functioning across multiple domains — not just behavioral presentation — is often the clearest path to diagnostic confidence.
Medication Management Support For psychiatrists managing medication, a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation provides objective baseline data on attention, processing speed, working memory, and executive functioning that can inform prescribing decisions and help track treatment response over time. When a client's response to medication is inconsistent or unexpected, evaluation findings can help explain why.
Identifying Undiagnosed Learning Disabilities Adults in therapy frequently have undiagnosed learning disabilities or processing differences that have shaped their self-concept, their relationship with work and school, and their experience of the world — often without either the client or the clinician realizing it. A neuropsychological evaluation can identify these hidden factors and reframe the clinical picture in ways that open new therapeutic directions.
Documentation for Accommodations When a client needs documentation for workplace accommodations, a professional licensing exam, or graduate school, our comprehensive evaluations provide the level of documentation that employers and testing organizations require — documentation that a clinical note or brief assessment cannot provide.

Adult ADHD & Neuropsychological Testing
Many adults discover in their 20s, 30s, or beyond that they're neurodivergent—ADHD, autistic, or have learning differences that explain lifelong experiences of thinking and processing differently. Our evaluations provide diagnostic clarity and access to accommodations that honor how your brain works.
We offer two types of adult ADHD evaluations:
Comprehensive Neuropsychological Evaluation (8 hours)
Full assessment for workplace accommodations, professional exam documentation, or comprehensive diagnostic clarity. Includes complete cognitive and achievement testing, attention and executive function measures, and detailed written report.
Abbreviated ADHD Testing (2 hours)
Focused evaluation for treatment planning and medication management. Includes clinical interview, ADHD rating scales, and diagnostic report with treatment recommendations. Not appropriate for accommodation requests.
Which evaluation is right for you?
We'll help you determine this during your free consultation.
We also evaluate adults for:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis
Workplace accommodations (ADA)
Executive functioning differences
Learning differences affecting work or graduate school
Memory and cognitive concerns
Diagnostic clarity for treatment planning
Common reasons adults seek evaluation:
💭 "I've always struggled with organization and focus, but thought everyone did."
💭 "I'm successful, but everything takes me twice as long as it should."
💭 "My child was just diagnosed with ADHD, and I see myself in the symptoms."
💭 "I've always felt different socially, and recently learned about autism in adults."

What Sets Us Apart
Why Psychiatrists & Therapists Refer
to Us
We answer your clinical questions. We don't just produce a standard report — we address the specific questions that prompted the referral. If you want to know whether executive dysfunction is driving treatment resistance, we will tell you. If you want to know whether a late autism diagnosis should be on the table, we will evaluate for it comprehensively.
We communicate with you. With client authorization, we engage directly with referring clinicians before and after the evaluation. We are not a black box that returns a report three weeks later.
We cover the full diagnostic range. ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, twice-exceptional profiles, intellectual disabilities, processing differences, and cognitive concerns across the lifespan — our team has the clinical breadth to handle complex presentations that other practices turn away.
We are efficient. We strive to deliver reports within two to three weeks of the final testing session and communicate proactively if anything arises that you should know about sooner.
We have two NYC locations. Flatiron District and Astoria, Queens — accessible to your clients across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and beyond
